Well, I'm new here, but since no one else has replied to this I suppose I shall.

The answer is that I would have some pretty definite ideas, and that while I would listen to the doll's input, I would still be very much inclined to follow my own vision.

I would hope that doll and maker share their vision, at least mostly.

Well now without dolls input I would in most cases lose the doll, so yes I want the dolls input at the beginning and later to a lesser degree.

As a Toy Maker I look at each doll as a commissioned work of art, so if I have a doll who wants to be a clockwork and I beginning making her a rubber doll I would lose my commission and the work will never be done by me. Yes I want the dolls input so I can plan and design what she wants, as the work progress moves on I may improve upon her design simple put I am the Toy Maker and know better, but always it would be within the orignal plans both I and doll agreed on more or less.
