Does anyone know of a replacement for bintsuke-abura (an oily/ waxy substance) used by Geisha before applying foundation, so that it stays on longer/ adheres better?

I've got white liquid foundation and a white fixing powder, but it doesn't seem to stay on long enough, and I need to coat it several times to achieve a flawless mask...

Why search for a replacement when you can have the real thing?

Vaseline works in a pinch, but there are plenty of online places to order it from, even ebay

I live in New Zealand- we don't always have the same stuff as you, and it's expensive to international courier.
Also, I need it for three days time, which means it wouldn't get here in time.
Thanks for your input!

I'll need to give this a try one day!
In fact, the whole shop looks wonderful, I would love to be a geisha doll. Or even just a geisha. They are 'living art', which is exactly what I am aiming to be.

Found that some good quality white face paint from SFX stores and suppliers does a fantastic job; it doesn't cake, it spreads easily and covers well.
It's also remarkably easy to find, and cheap.
