I’d like some advice from the experienced face painters and makeup artists here, in regards to painting a porcelain doll look on human skin.

I viewed a video at Youtube that shows a young woman being painted for Geisha makeup, which helped me to understand the technique for the actual application but they don’t say anything about what product was used for the white paint.

I live in Canada and can easily order the Ben Nye products. After some careful thought, I found the crème makeup in white that can be tinted and set with the super white face powder but Ben Nye also makes white, liquid face paint.

What would be better, the crème makeup set with face powder or the liquid face paint?

I want to paint my dolly’s neck and some of the chest as well so I’m guessing I will have to use the face paint for that because it should dry hard so it won’t rub off on clothing like crème makeup does.

Any suggestions or advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Up until now, I’ve only done my dolly’s face with regular make-up but I really, really want to go for that porcelain doll look.

Thanks for those links. The second one I had already read but the third one I had not seen, and it is by far the most helpful. I'll have to spend more time here searching through old threads.

If geisha is the way you want to go that link leads to a site that seems to have just about everything from the make up itself to the brushes, as well as a few other odds and ends.
Enjoy
